New São Paulo Schools of Advanced Science will be selected Versão em português
FAPESP announces a new call for proposals within the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) line of support for the organization of short courses on frontier science and technology topics in any field.
In addition to furthering the advancement of knowledge, the funded events are expected to increase the visibility of research, doctoral programs, and postdoctoral opportunities in the State of São Paulo, especially among candidates in other Brazilian states and abroad.
During ESPCA courses, scientists with common professional interests will come together, for a period of one to two weeks, engaging in intense discussion and analysis of the most advanced aspects of their fields of research.
These conferences allow information and ideas to be disseminated in ways not possible using the usual channels of communication, such as scientific publications and presentations at scientific meetings.
Each course must feature a program of seminars or mini-courses taught by scientists from Brazil or abroad. Teachers of the ESPCA courses, including invited foreign scientists, must be highly-qualified researchers and leaders in their fields.
Participating students must be enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programs—in Brazil or abroad—and be candidates for masters programs, doctoral programs, or postdoctoral positions at institutions of higher learning and research in the state of São Paulo. Some recently graduated PhDs will also be accepted.
In addition to attending the mini-courses, students chosen to participate will have the opportunity to present their research findings to colleagues during poster sessions. It is expected that each ESPCA-funded event will enroll up to 100 students.
Priority will be given to proposals of themes not covered recently in schools selected by the ESPCA line of support.
Applications for the 13th SPSAS call will be accepted until August 18, 2017.
FAPESP will organize a Q&A meeting on May 24 about ESPCA and the call for proposals.
