Funded collections Versão em português
FAPESP has issued a call for proposals for the program Support for Research Infrastructure in Museums, Data/Document Repositories and Biological Collections.
Proposals will be evaluated and selected based on their relevance to research, as well as on their potential for maintaining, expanding and providing researcher access to the archived collections.
FAPESP has earmarked approximately R$ 20 million (US$ 11,5 million as Nov.2009) for allocation to the set of projects to be selected. Initial requests must be received by December 18, 2009 and will be evaluated within six months. Grants will have a validity of one year.
Preference will be given to proposals that present innovative concepts for the storage and organization, as well as for increasing access to, the collections. In addition, priority will be given to institutions and centers that have previously received significant FAPESP funding for infrastructure projects.
One important factor to be weighed in the evaluation of proposals is documented evidence that the petitioning center or institution has made the relevant material available online, thereby increasing the national and international visibility of the archives and collections existing in the state of São Paulo, as well as allowing those collections and data to be used by specialists in Brazil and abroad.
Assuming that the use of collection in question for research projects has been demonstrated, evidence of broad use of the data by the general population and, in particular, by teachers of grades 1 through 12 will also be given considerable weight.
