Silvia Helena Paixão Alencar UFMG http://lattes.cnpq.br/1898710476426863 http://www.fisica.ufmg.br/~silvia |
Silvia Helena Paixão Aguiar: Graduated in Physics (1993), with master (1995) and PhD (2000) degrees in Physics from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), with stages at the University of Califórnia at Berkeley (1998-2000). Post-doctoral stages at Instituto Astronômico e Geofísico - USP (2000 to 2002), Physics Department - UFMG (2002-2005) and at Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Grenoble (France) (2005-2006). She is currently Associate Professor at the Physics Institute- UFMG. She has been working on stellar evolution and star formation. For some years she studied eclipsing binary systems in order to determine absolute parameters and test evolutionary models. In the beginning of her PhD she worked with stellar atmosphere models, calculating limb-darkening and gravity-brightening coefficients for cool stars and illuminated atmospheres, as those of close binary systems. Then she moved to star formation, studying T Tauri stars. She is mostly interested in the dynamics of the star-disk interaction during pre-main sequence and its consequence to the angular momentum evolution of the young star-disk system. http://lattes.cnpq.br/1898710476426863 http://www.fisica.ufmg.br/~silvia |
