São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are accepting proposals for the interchange of researchers from the State of São Paulo, Brazil and the USA involving exchange missions within the range of scientific cooperation. Applications can be made up to September 19, 2011.

The researchers at MIT will use their MISTI Program (http://web.mit.edu/misti) while researchers in São Paulo must be Principal Investigators of ongoing research projects funded by FAPESP within the following schemes: Regular Research Awards, Thematic Projects, Young Investigators, or Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centres (CEPIDs/RIDCs).

The Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields. The exchanged activities foreseen in this project must be carried out within the timeframe starting from January 2012 through August 2013, i.e. up to 20 months.

FAPESP and MIT will provide combined funding of up to US$30.000 per project (US$20.000 for researchers and postdocs and US$10.000 for graduate and undergraduate students), for the period established in the award, necessarily and exclusively to cover mobility expenses (travel costs and living allowances).

The proposals must be submitted simultaneously to FAPESP by the researcher from the State of São Paulo and to MIT by his/her collaborator from USA. Each Party will select the proposals according to its own procedures. Only the proposals selected by both Parties will be jointly funded.
