FAPESP and ANR issue call for proposals in Facing Societal and Environmental Changes

The Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) has issued a Call for Proposals for new research projects in collaboration between French and São Paulo State researchers. The call was published in the framework of the “SOC&ENV Program – Facing Societal and Environmental Changes”, under the Cooperation Agreement signed by the French agency and FAPESP.

This Call for Proposals addresses the following themes:

1) Environmental knowledge bottlenecks at regional and decadal scales, targeting natural sciences (water, climate, soil);
2) Social knowledge bottlenecks, targeting social sciences and humanities;
3) Integrated research studies for more effective solutions, targeting interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary approaches.

Tripartite collaborative proposals are also welcomed, together with the “Fundação de Amparo à Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco (FACEPE)”, accordingly to the cooperation agreement signed between ANR, FAPESP and FACEPE.

Proposals must be submitted by May 25, 2012, only to ANR by the French principal investigator, according the rules described in the Call for Proposals published by ANR.

For the applicant researcher in the São Paulo State, the collaborative proposals may be carried out at FAPESP as a Research Award in the Regular or Thematic Project schemes, as determined by the applicant.

The proposal to be submitted to ANR by the French partner should be in English and must include, as an attachment, the FAPESP form, specific for the Call and related to the participation of the principal investigator from the São Paulo State.

After the submission deadline is reached, applicants from the São Paulo State will be contacted by FAPESP and asked to provide complementary documentation accordingly to the usual rules for the chosen award scheme.

Each project will be funded for a period of 2 to 4 years.
