FAPESP signs research cooperation agreement with G3 Versão em português
Scientific collaboration between researchers from the State of São Paulo and from the Université de Montréal, the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Université de Genève will be funded
FAPESP signed a cooperation agreement with the Université de Montréal, from Canada, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, from Belgium, and the Université de Genève, from Switzerland, a group called G3 Partnership.
The agreement is valid for five years and was signed on May 12, 2014 by the president of FAPESP, Celso Lafer, the vice-rector of the Université de Genève, Margareta Baddeley, the rector of the Université de Montréal, Guy Breton, and the vice-rector for International Relations of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Serge Jaumain.
The parties wish to promote scientific cooperation between researchers from these three French-speaking universities and researchers from the State of São Paulo, in all fields of knowledge.
FAPESP and G3 shall establish a discretional pump-priming fund for the purposes of funding its researchers under this agreement. Each successful research project will be awarded up to US$ 20,000 each year by each party for a maximum period of two years.
Pierre Quertenmont, head of International Relations Office of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Virginia Subiñas, technical adviser of FAPESP scientific board, Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, FAPESP's scientific director, Yves Quay, International Relations director of the Université de Montréal, Stéphanie Dion, International Relations adviser of the Université de Montréal, and Stéphane Berthet, general secretary of the Université de Genève, were also present during the agreement signature.
