Virtual Joint Centres in Agricultural Nitrogen will be funded Versão em português
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) announces an international call for proposals for Virtual Joint Centres in Agricultural Nitrogen, with funds offered by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and FAPESP for researchers in São Paulo, Brazil.
The call forms part of the Newton Fund activities from UK’s BBSRC and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) with partners in Brazil, India and China.
In Brazil, the call is being supported by FAPESP and other Brazilian State Funding Agencies (FAPs) with articulation by the National Council of State Funding Agencies (CONFAP).
With this call the funding partners seek to explore ways to sustain or improve current levels of crop production with lower energy inputs and reduced environmental impacts, and wish to encourage innovative research which will lead to the production of high yields of crops with lower inputs of nitrogen fertiliser.
Applications are invited to enable bilateral research activities in the form of Virtual Joint Centres for up to three years in duration. Individual researchers may develop multiple proposals, but all submitted proposals should address bilateral working between researchers in the UK and academic partners in Sao Paulo.
To support the areas of this call for proposals the UK side will offer up to £3.5 million and the Brazilian partner organizations will match this with equivalent research effort.
Proposals in the State of São Paulo will be processed by FAPESP as Thematic Project Research Grants, Young Investigator Awards, or São Paulo Excellence Chair (SPEC) Awards. Each Virtual Joint Centre may have multiple grants in Sao Paulo.
Proposals are invited for projects up to 36 months duration. All proposals shall be sent to FAPESP until 22nd July 2015.
