SPRINT 3rd Edition 2014 - Guideline: Texas Tech University

Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from Texas Tech University

FAPESP and Texas Tech University signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on August 12, 2014, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the Texas Tech University, USA and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.

Under the referred Agreement, as a first action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and Texas Tech University make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 3rd Edition 2014 (www.fapesp.br/en/9055) and hereinafter set forth.

1. Eligibility from Texas Tech University side

1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:

a. All tenured, tenure-track and research professor faculty from Texas Tech University are eligible to participate in this call for proposals.

1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call:

a. Faculty and post-doctoral researchers from TTU are eligible to participate in exchange activities of this call for proposals.

2. Fields of knowledge

This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields of knowledge.

3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers

The maximum duration of each project is 24 months.

4. Funding principles

FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of US$10,000.00 per proposal per year and Texas Tech University will provide funding of up to US$10,000.00 per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties. No more than 5 projects will be funded.

5. Proposal characteristics for Texas Tech University researchers

The proposal, in English, consists of an identical research project to be submitted to both Parties and the required documentation for each Party (FAPESP and TTU), under the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth.

5.1 A research project with a maximum of five (5) pages of scientific content, with one copy sent to Texas Tech University and another copy sent to FAPESP, including the items described on clause 6.1 of SPRINT Call for Proposals.

5.2 In addition to the above referred research project, the proposal must include the following items:

5.2.1 For Texas Tech University:

a. Research Proposal Form;

b. CV Summaries of the Principal Investigators on both sides and of all candidates for the exchange activities;

c. Budget forms;

d. Worksheet with the candidates for the exchange missions.

6. Submission of proposals to Texas Tech University

Submissions can only be accepted by email to Ms. Reagan Ribordy, Senior Grants Administrator, Office of International Affairs, reagan.ribordy@ttu.edu.

7. Result of the analysis

Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and Texas Tech University www.depts.ttu.edu/international/intlrsch/index.php web portals and by means of a communication to the corresponding PIs.
