Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from the UCL Institute of Education (IOE), University College London
FAPESP and IOE signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on 19 June 2012, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the IOE, UK and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under the referred Agreement, as an action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and the IOE make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 1st Edition 2016 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call12016) and hereinafter set forth.
1. Eligibility from the IOE side
1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:
a. Academic employee of the UCL Institute of Education
1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call
a. Academic employee of the UCL Institute of Education proposing a project in any field related to IOE research in education and social science
2. Fields of knowledge
This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in fields related to IOE and FAPESP research interests in education and related social sciences.
3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers
The maximum duration of each project is 24 months.
4. Funding principles
FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of £8,000 per proposal per year; and the IOE will provide funding of up to £8,000 per year, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/en/7052).
5. Proposal characteristics for IOE researchers
5.1 The proposal shall be composed of:
A Research Project having a maximum of five (5) pages of scientific content, written jointly by the Principal Investigator to FAPESP and his/her colleague, the Principal Investigator at the IOE. The Research Project must be written in English. One copy of the Research Project shall be sent to FAPESP and another (identical) copy to the Partner Institution (see 6.1, below).
a. Submission forms and additional documents as requested as required by FAPESP (see 6.2, below) and/or by the partner institutions.
5.2 The Research Project must include the following:
a. A substantive description of the exchange activities, emphasizing their relevance. The proposal must state clearly how the exchange activities to be carried out will contribute to the ongoing research project funded by FAPESP and to the research being carried by the partner researcher abroad;
b, A timeline for each specific exchange mission, considering the limit of missions and funding established in this Call;
c. Performance indicators for the planned activities;
d. A description of each candidate’s contribution to the mission, explaining their expertise to carry out the foreseen activities;
e. Foreseen actions that will add to the impact of the exchange for the Partner Institution and for the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo, e.g. by means of seminars, short courses and visits to other institutions that carry out research activities in cognate areas;
5.3 In addition to the above referred research project, the proposal for IOE must include the following items:
a. Relevance to IOE research priorities.
6. Submission of proposals to IOE
Submissions can only be accepted by IOE International (internationaloffice@ioe.ac.uk).
7. Result of the analysis
Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and (www.ucl.ac.uk/ioe) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.
8. Contract for selected projects by IOE
Selected proposals will subject to the conditions set forth in a letter of award.
