FAPESP and NERC announce result of call to support research in Brazilian Biomes Versão em português
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) announce the result of a call for research proposals about “Understanding and Sustaining Brazilian Biome Resources”.
This call is supported by the UK through the Newton Fund and was only open to joint UK-Brazil applications.
NERC and FAPESP will support research in complimentary Brazilian biomes (including Amazon, Atlantic rainforest, Caatinga and Cerrado biomes) which will improve the understanding of the role of biodiversity in the functioning of ecosystems, the drivers and impact of change, and management and restoration options.
Two proposals of FAPESP’s Young Investigator Awards and one of São Paulo Excellence Chair (SPEC) were selected.
NERC will fund the UK-based researchers and FAPESP will provide matched equivalent effort to the São Paulo State-based researchers.
In this call, FAPESP is, for the first time, awarding grants under the concept of “Case for Support”, in which a project can contain more than one individual grant at FAPESP, each one fulfilling part of the activities in the project.
