SPRINT – 2nd Edition 2016
Specific requests for proposals submissions from researchers of the University of Glasgow
FAPESP and UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on 28th November 2014, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the University of Glasgow and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under the referred Agreement, as a continuation of this fruitful collaboration, FAPESP and UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 2nd Edition 2016 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call22016) and hereinafter set forth.
1. Eligibility conditions for researchers from the UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW
1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:
a. The Call is open to University of Glasgow research staff in all disciplines wishing to propose collaborative projects involving eligible researchers affiliated with an institution within the state of São Paulo (as outlined in Paragraph 2 below).
b. Strong preference will be given to projects that will be likely to promote sustained collaborative activity beyond the end point of the award period.
1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call
a. The project lead must be a University of Glasgow researcher who holds a contract of employment for the full length of the proposed project. Other participants may include associated postdoctoral fellows and PhD students where appropriate.
b. The proposals must aim to respect the principle of reciprocity with regard to academic qualifications of those who will take part in the exchange activities.
c. Eligibility of research partners in the State of São Paulo should observe the items 3.1 and 7.1 of FAPESP call (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call22016).
2. Fields of knowledge
This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in any field of knowledge.
3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers
The maximum duration of each project is up to 24 months.

5. Funding principles
FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of £5,000 per proposal per year and University of Glasgow will provide funding of up to of £5,000 per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/9192).
6. Proposal characteristics for University of Glasgow researchers:
The proposal shall be composed of:
6.1 A Research Project having a maximum of five (5) pages of scientific content, written jointly by the Principal Investigator of the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo and the Principal Investigator at the University of Glasgow The Research Project must be written in English. One copy of the Research Project shall be sent to FAPESP and another (identical) copy to the University of Glasgow. The Research Project must include the items included in the item 6.1 at www.fapesp.br/sprint/call22016.
6.2 The following additional documents required by University of Glasgow:
a. A detailed proposed budget;
b. A timeline for the activities;
c. Letter of Support from Head of School/Institute;
d. Letter of Agreement of the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo to which the PI from São Paulo is affiliated. The same document is required by FAPESP in item 6.2.3 at www.fapesp.br/sprint/call22016. The Letter of Agreement may be delivered after the notification of results of this call for proposals and before the grant agreement signature.
7. Submission of proposals to University of Glasgow
Submissions to the University of Glasgow can only be accepted electronically and should be submitted by 17.00 on Monday 25 July 2016 to: joey.kirk@glsgow.ac.uk
8. Result of the analysis
Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and University of Glasgow (www.glasgow.ac.uk) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.

Selected proposals will subject to the conditions set forth in GU-FAPESP’s framework agreement (www.fapesp.br/en/9193)
