Specific requests for proposals submissions from researchers of the SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
FAPESP and SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on March 15, 2016, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, COUNTRY, and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under the referred Agreement, as a first action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 1st Edition 2018 (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call12018) and hereinafter set forth.
1. Eligibility from SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY side
1.1. Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:
The lead applicant must be employed at Swinburne as academic staff members in a teaching and research or research only role and with a contract that is valid for the duration of the relevant funding period. The team may comprise postdoctoral fellows and PhD students.
1.2. Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call:
a. Refer to items in 1.1 above.
(i) Considering the principle of reciprocity, FAPESP exceptionally may either support PhD students from the State of São Paulo to take part in the scientific missions. In this case, the PhD student(s) must have an ongoing FAPESP fellowship during the planned exchange mission to the partner institution.

The proposals must aim to respect the principle of reciprocity with regard to academic qualifications of those who will take part in the exchange activities.

Eligibility of research partners in the State of São Paulo should observe the items 3.1 and 4.2 of FAPESP call (www.fapesp.br/sprint/call12018).
2. Fields of knowledge
This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields of knowledge.
3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers
The maximum duration of each project is up to 12 months (may be conducted over 2018 and 2019 as applicable).

5. Funding principles
5.1. FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of AUS$10,000.00 per proposal per year and SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY will provide funding of up to AUS$10,000.00 per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant to cover research-related mobility expenses, under the provisions of Clause 5 of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/en/10127).
5.2. FAPESP and SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY will fund a maximum of 3 approved proposals.
5.3. The funding will support mobility of a team of researchers (economy airfares between Melbourne and Sao Paulo, accommodation, meals and incidentals, costs to hold conference/workshops only) to accomplish the purposes set forth in the introduction of this Call.
5.4. The grant can only be used for the exchange of researchers, visits for research planning, international workshops, and initial activities of data collection, always aiming to develop research collaborations that develop and promote research excellence and impact.
6. Proposal characteristics for SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY researchers:
The proposal shall be composed of:
a. Swinburne University of Technology application form
b. Two-page CV of each Swinburne team member
c. Completed Research Funding Application Coversheet (RFAC)
d. A copy of the FAPESP collaborator’s completed application form as submitted to FAPESP

8. Result of the analysis
The results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) web portal and SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY will communicate by email to all Swinburne applicants.
9. Contract for selected projects by SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
Successful Swinburne applicants are required to submit a Research Funding Application Form (RFAF) which will accompany an outcome letter.
10. Grant cancellation
FAPESP or SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY may cancel funding if, during the grant timeframe, a significant event justifies its cancellation in the assessment of the Joint Steering Committee, without prejudice of any other appropriate actions.
