Jointly with the Trans-Atlantic Platform in Social Sciences and Humanities – T-AP (www.transatlanticplatform.com), FAPESP announces an international call for proposals with the aiming of supporting research projects teaming with the subject “Social Innovation”.

The call is intended to support social science and/or humanities research that can contribute meaningfully to the understanding of societal transformations and the role of social innovation by integrating the local, national, and global levels, as well as the diverse human activities related to the public, social, and private spheres.

The call brings together funding organizations from Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom. It is open to teams with members from at least three of these countries, and must include partners from both sides of the Atlantic.

Research partners will receive funding from the national funding agency from their country of origin for projects that can last up to 36 months.

Proposals must approach the key characteristics of Social Innovation such as creation of social value through new or improved policies; the goals of social cohesion (inclusive growth, sustainability, etc.); individual and collective enpowerment and wellbeing; historical, political and cultural contexts, among others. FAPESP will take part in this call together with other eight funding agencies from other countries.

Researchers from the State of São Paulo interested in participating the call must first consult FAPESP about their own eligibility until January 20, 2019, exclusively by email (chamada-tap-social@fapesp.br).

Proposals must be jointly written with at least two researchers from other countries and must be in accordance to the rules of FAPESP scheme “regular research”. Projects must be submitted via FAPESP’s SAGe system (www.fapesp.br/sage) until February 14th, 2019.

The full call for proposals is published at the T-AP website (www.transatlanticplatform.com).

Guidelines for São Paulo State researchers can be found at www.fapesp.br/en/12124.

About the Transatlantic Platform (T-AP)

Created in 2013, the Trans-Atlantic Platform is a collaboration between humanities and social science research funders from South America, North America, and Europe, with FAPESP being one of its founding members (www.fapesp.br/en/9298).

The Trans-Atlantic Platform aims to enhance the ability of funders, research organizations and researchers to engage in transnational dialogue and collaboration. It works to identify common challenges and promote a culture of collaboration in social science and humanities research. It facilitates the formation of networks within the social sciences and humanities and enables all participants to connect with other disciplines. The Trans-Atlantic Platform also strives to heighten awareness of the role the social sciences and humanities play in addressing 21st century challenges.
