FAPESP and NSF announce new call for proposals Versão em português
FAPESP and the National Science Foundation (NSF) announce a new call for research proposals and invite researchers to submit projects for scientific cooperation through their programs BIOTA (FAPESP Research Program on Biodiversity Characterization, Conservation, Restoration and Sustainable Use) and Dimensions of Biodiversity.
This call for proposals is based in a broader call for proposals published annually by the NSF Dimensions of Biodiversity’s Program, which invites the participation of US researchers to apply for NSF’s regular funding or co-funding opportunities under NSF agreements with FAPESP and other agencies.
Research projects must integrate the three dimensions of biodiversity – Genetic, Phylogenetic and Functional – with the goal of understanding the complex interactions and dynamic feedbacks among them. Innovative approaches that accelerate the characterization and understanding of these three dimensions of biodiversity are encouraged, as are empirical, experimental, theoretical, and modeling approaches. The call will select up to two proposals.
The FAPESP schemes for support in this call for proposals are Thematic Project and Young Investigator Grant.
Researchers from the State of São Paulo must request an eligibility letter before February 27, 2020, to receive pre-approval by FAPESP. Pre-approved researchers will be invited to submit full proposals to FAPESP exclusively via the SAGe submission system until April 3, 2020.
The duration of the research project must be five years.
The call for proposals with instructions regarding researchers from Sao Paulo State is available (in Portuguese) at: www.fapesp.br/biota/dimensions-NSF2020.
The complete call for proposals is available at the National Science Foundation website: www.nsf.gov/pubs/2020/nsf20524/nsf20524.htm.
