New FAPESP/Belmont Forum call for proposals Versão em português
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Belmont Forum, group of reseaorganizations with the mission to encourage research on global changes, announce a new call for proposals under the cooperation agreement signed by the member institutions.
The Belmont Forum, in collaboration with Future Earth, aims at bringing together researchers across the globe to carry out Earth systems-based investigations focused on integrated qualitative and quantitative approaches that aims at designing transformation pathways to address sustainable development.
This call, entitled “Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability (Pathways)”, is supported by Belmont Forum’s 11 selected funding agencies which represent Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. The complete list of participants can be found at www.belmontforum.org/cras/#pathways2020.
The call will support collaborative projects following the proposed research lines: 1) Inter-linkages, synergies, and trade-offs among three or more of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and/or 2) Synthesis of positive and negative inter-linkages among three or more SDGs using quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies.
Proposals must combine significant contributions by national research teams from at least three of the countries participating in the international call.
Proponents from the State of São Paulo must follow the specific guidelines, based on the scheme of FAPESP’s Regular Research Awards. Exceptions to the are described in the call for proposals.
The budget earmarked by FAPESP for this call will be equivalent of € 250,000, and the maximum allowable budget is R$ 70.000 per year – selected projects will have a two-year maximum duration.
Proven experience in international interdisciplinary projects and preliminary eligibility consultation to FAPESP are also required (due date is October 9, 2020).
Leading principal investigators of each consortium must submit proposals directly to the Belmont Forum by November 2, 2020. No submissions should be presented to FAPESP at this stage: principal investigators from the State of São Paulo will be individually contacted by FAPESP for further instructions on how to submit the complete documentation through SAGe system (sage).
