Simone Appenzeller

Advisor to the General Coordination – Health Sciences 1 (Medicine)

Dr Appenzeller is a rheumatologist and associate professor at the Department of Orthopedics, Rheumatology and Traumatology-School of Medical Science-University of Campinas (Unicamp) and currently researcher level 1D at CNPq.

She graduated in medicine (1999), did her rheumatology residency (2003), PhD in Internal Medicine (2006) at the Unicamp, post-doctoral research fellowship at McGill University, Canada (2006-2008), Stavanger Hospital, Norway (2008-2009), fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (Faimer)-Philadelphia, United States (2013). In 2010, she joined the faculty at the School of Medical Science at Unicamp.

Her scientific interest is to study neuropsychiatric manifestations in rheumatological autoimmune diseases and their impact on the quality of life of adult and pediatric patients.

She is currently editor of Advances in Rheumatology and a member of the editorial board of the scientific journals Lupus, Autoimmunity Reviews and Clinical Rheumatology.
