The cooperation agreement between FAPESP and the Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale (The French National Institute for Health and Medical Research) (Inserm), from France, supports collaboration between research groups from the French institution and research groups from the State of São Paulo.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023 specifically contemplates the ANRS-Maladies Infectieuses Émergentes (ANRS-MIE), an autonomous agency of Inserm.
The design and implementation of joint research projects on issues of mutual interest may be in the following research areas: HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, Sexually transmitted infections, Tuberculosis, Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases (emerging respiratory diseases, including COVID-19, viral hemorrhagic fevers, arboviruses), Immunology, Neurosciences, Genetics, Chronic Diseases, and Cancer.
