Results for the FAPESP-ISTPCanada Call for Proposals Versão em português
FAPESP and the International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada) have announced the approved projects under the Call for Proposals launched in October 2009 within the cooperation agreement between the institutions.
The Call for Proposals comprised the development of joint projects in the areas of Information and Communication Technology - including software; Energy: Renewable Energy and Fuel Cells; and Life Sciences: Bio Health and Medical Technologies.
“These projects will support the development of a strategic Canada-Brazil R&D agenda and provide tangible ways for Canadian and Brazilian companies to capitalize on the associated market opportunities” said Dr. Henri Rothschild, President and CEO of ISTPCanada.
Mandated by the Government of Canada, ISTPCanada streamlines the development of new partnerships in R&D between Canadian companies, research organizations and similar in other countries, invests in collaborative research projects with commercial potential and stimulates startup partnership activities.
“These multidisciplinary Research and Development alliances will accelerate the development of new knowledge, new technologies and new applications that are needed to increase the competitiveness of our companies and of our countries," said Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, Scientific Director of FAPESP.
ISTPCanada will fund the research developed by researchers at that country and FAPESP will fund for the part of the research conducted by researchers at the São Paulo State.
The projects should result in innovation and be commercially viable, i.e., result in a new product or process with commercial potential in the short and medium term. Projects may last up to 24 months.
