GUIDELINE – Manchester

Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from The University of Manchester

FAPESP and The University of Manchester, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on September 2013, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the MANCHESTER -UK, and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.

Under the referred Agreement, as a first action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and Manchester make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 1^st Edition 2015 (www.fapesp.br/en/9265) and hereinafter set forth.

1. Eligibility from MANCHESTER side

1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:

Permanent academic staff or fixed term academic or research staff whose contract exceeds the duration of the project.

1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call

2. Fields of knowledge

This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields.

3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers

The maximum duration of each project is 24 months.

4. Funding principles

FAPESP will provide funding the equivalent of up £10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Pounds Sterling) per proposal per year and MANCHESTER will each provide funding of up to £10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Pounds Sterling) per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant to cover mobility expenses, under the provisions of eighth clause of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/en/8086)

5. Proposal Characteristics:

5.2. To Manchester, the proposal for MANCHESTER must include the following items:

a. Research Proposal form

b. Case for Support (maximum of 2 pages)

c. Budget sheet

d. CV for each participant in the partnership (maximum of 4 pages)

e. Worksheet

6. Submission of proposals to MANCHESTER

Submissions can only be accepted by e-mail to Victoria Holt, Head of Research Support Services, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences on Vicky.holt@manchester.ac.uk.

7. Result of the analysis

Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) and Manchester (www.staffnet.eps.manchester.ac.uk/business-areas/academic-services/research/) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.

8. Contract for selected projects by MANCHESTER

Selected proposals will subject to the conditions set forth in a letter of award.

9. Grant cancellation

FAPESP or MANCHESTER may cancel funding if, during the grant timeframe, a fact is of sufficient gravity to justify cancellation, without prejudice of any other appropriate actions.
