GUIDELINE – University of Münster
Specific requests for submission of proposals in partnership with researchers from the University of Münster (WWU)
FAPESP and the University of Münster, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on the 15th October 2014, aiming to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from the University of Münster, and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under the referred Agreement, as a first action to promote such collaboration, FAPESP and University of Münster make public this Call for Proposals for the exchange of researchers, under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 2nd Edition 2015 (www.fapesp.br/en/9365) and hereinafter set forth.
1. Eligibility from University of Münster side
1.1 Eligibility to submit proposals within the scope of this Call:
PIs must be permanent or contracted University of Münster employees at an Academic Level at time of application and must maintain this status for the duration of the proposed activities.
1.2 Eligibility for the exchange activities within the scope of this Call:
Principal Investigators as well Associated Researchers from University of Münster directly involved in the proposed research project. Participating University of Münster post-doctoral fellows must hold a fellowship/scholarship during the planned exchange mission.
1.3 Eligibility of research partners in the State of São Paulo should observe the items 3.1 and 7.1 of FAPESP call (www.fapesp.br/en/9365).
2. Fields of knowledge
This Call for Proposals invites research proposals in all fields.
3. Duration of the project for the exchange of researchers
The maximum duration of each project is 12 months.

5. Funding principles
FAPESP and University of Münster will equally contribute the equivalent to 5,000.00 Euros per proposal, for supporting up to six (6) approved proposals and for the duration of the grant, to cover mobility expenses, under the provisions of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement established by the Parties (www.fapesp.br/en/8942).
5. Proposal Characteristics
5.1 The proposal shall be composed of:
a. A Research Project having a maximum of five (5) pages of scientific content,written jointly by the Principal Investigator of the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo and the Principal Investigator at the University of Münster. The Research Project must be written in English. One copy of the Research Project shall be sent to FAPESP and another (identical) copy to the University of Münster.
b. Submission forms and additional documents as required by FAPESP (see item 6.2 at www.fapesp.br/9364) and by the University of Münster (see item 5.3 below).
5.2 The Research Project must include the following:
a. A substantive description of the exchange activities, emphasizing their relevance;
b. A timeline for each specific exchange mission, considering the limit of missions and funding established in this Call;
c. Performance indicators for the planned activities;
d. A description of each candidate’s contribution to the mission, explaining their expertise to carry out the foreseen activities;
e. Foreseen actions that will add to the impact of the exchange for the University of Münster and for the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo, e.g. by means of seminars, short courses or visits, including a clear articulation of and specific details on how the proposed activity will lead to an external research grant application (FAPESP-DFG).
5.3. In addition to the above referred research project, the proposal for the University of Münster must include the following items:
a. Budget sheet.
b. Letter of Support from the Head of Department.
c. Letter of Agreement of the Host Institution in the State of São Paulo to which the PI from São Paulo is affiliated. The Letter of Agreement may be delivered after the notification of results. The same document is required by FAPESP in item 6.2.3 at www.fapesp.br/9364.
6. Submission of proposals to University of Münster
Submissions to University of Münster requires a completed application saved as a single PDF file and submitted electronically to bzfapesp@uni-muenster.de within the deadline of this call.
7. Result of the analysis
Final results will be announced on FAPESP (www.fapesp.br) andBrazil Centre of the University of Münster (www.uni-muenster.de/Brasilienzentrum) web portals and by means of a communication to the interested PIs.
9. Grant cancellation
FAPESP or University of Münster may cancel funding if, during the grant timeframe, a fact is of sufficient gravity to justify cancellation, without prejudice of any other appropriate actions.
