First Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding among the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the Newton Fund (UK-Brazil Research and Innovation Partnership) and the National Council for the State Funding Agencies and State Funding Agencies
The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the National Council for the State Funding Agencies (hereinafter referred to as CONFAP) and the State Funding Agencies (hereinafter referred to as FAP) seeking to build on the existing friendly and co-operative relationship between the two countries and specifically to encourage and support increased capacity in Brazil in the area of research and innovation. From this moment, the Institutions involved in this document will be referred jointly as Parties
The Parties agree that:
Section 1
This document is a first addendum to the original Memorandum of Understanding signed among the Parties on April 9 th, 2014 whose purpose is to support the research and innovation capacity of Brazil to promote long-term sustainable growth.
Section 2
The purpose of this Addendum is to extend the duration of the Memorandum of Understanding until April 7th, 2022 and include as Party the State Funding Agencies of Piauí and Tocantins.
Section 3
The vality of this document begins on April 8th, 2017. Therefore, the Parties agree with this date of the begin of the activities independently as date of signature by its Representative.
The remaining sections of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April 09th. 2014 are ratified.
The document is drawn up both in English and Portuguese and has been issued and signed in duplicate being all equally authentic.
