FAPESP, the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Newton Fund announce a call for proposals to select and fund Neglected Infectious Diseases Joint Center Partnerships.
A joint center is not a physical entity, but rather an agreed collaboration and a way of working together, with the aim of enhancing existing partnerships and developing new collaborations between researchers from the State of São Paulo and researchers from United Kingdom.
Proposals may focus on, but are not limited to, the following disease areas:
-
Vector borne viruses, including Dengue fever, Zika, Chikungunya, and Yellow fever;
-
Rotaviruses;
-
Parasitic Infections, including Leishmaniasis, Filariasis, Chagas disease, Schistosomiasis, helminth, and giardiasis;
-
Emerging viruses;
-
Water-borne diseases;
-
Neglected Bacterial infections, including Leprosy.
In Brazil, researchers must be associated to higher education or research institutions in the State of São Paulo.
Funding will be granted in the Thematic Project scheme (www.fapesp.br/en/13). Exceptions are detailed in the call’s text.
Researchers must send an interest form to MRC by June 8, 2018, with information that will allow FAPESP to confirm the São Paulo researcher’s eligibility for this call of proposals.
Full proposals must be separately submitted to both FAPESP and MRC by July 19, 2018.
Guidelines for researchers from the State of São Paulo are available (in Portuguese) at: www.fapesp.br/11687.
